My video of the malfuntion...

This is a video of the second Browning XBolt in 300 WSM that I received the other day after returning the 1st one to Davidson's out of Prescott.

The reason I returned the 1st one is because when I shot it, it would not eject the empty case with 2 rounds still in the mag.

So when I received this one, I checked, and sure enough, the same problem. When I called Browning, they insist no one else has had any problems. I find this hard to believe, unless I am unlucky enough to get the only 2 with this problem.

I plan on calling Browning again here shortly, and will probably ship it back to them to fix it.

I made this video, since I'm used to the "there is nothing wrong with it" you get from alot of companies when you return something.

  1. This is your second one? Wow what is up with Browning quality now a days?
Return it and try another brand!

  2. It looks like the front of the cartridge is hitting the bottom of the scope, and putting it back in the carrier.
Looks like a bad design for your scope mounts they charged you $65 for.
So far as my buddies;I just got back from the club. It took 63 rounds to get consistency in the ejection.
I then fired an additional 20 for effect. It looks as if it was just tight tolerances on his rifle. The ejector wasnt week just needed breaking in.

  3. WBoyd - uh, the rifle in this video does not have a scope on it, i've never heard of having to break in the ejector, someone else has mentioned that also, i've pretty much given up on this rifle, and now own a Benelli in the same caliber, which ejects just fine

  7. I am a big fan of Browning. What I think is wrong with it is 1st possibly the ejector. 2nd You did say that the bullets were a little bit longer then the breach. What I think is happening is that the bullet when it tries to eject is it ends up hitting the top of the receiver. I don't see why this would be happening to a Browning since they are the best there is.

  8. I just got an x-bolt 270wsm a couple weeks ago. I havent shot it yet but I tried the action on it to see what the rave was all about the x-bolts. I put 3 shells in the clip, i racked the first one in the chamber and when i racked it out , it didnt, it just layed in the magazine. I picked the shell out and racked another in the chamber. When i racked that out, it didnt, so i picked that one out. now i have one left in the clip so i rack that in the chamber. When i rack it out, it does come out , but it is very, very, weak. I also found that when i dry fire the gun, i have to really come on to the bolt to lift it up and rack it. I am wonderind if there is something wrong with the wsm calibers. I also tried mine by racking it slow, it ejected all three cartriges .

  11. I have two Browning X Bolts. One is a stainless stalker in 7mm Remintgon Magnum and the second is a stainless Varmint Special in .223 Remington. Both of mine function without flaw and as designed. I'm not doubting your situation at all though. It just goes to show that any manufacturing process can produce something that is unacceptable.

I'm not concerned, per se, that Browning shipped something with a defect as that happens in all manufacturing processes. What I'm more concerned about is there inability/unwillingness to fix it once pointed out to them.

  12. Had 4 different X-Bolts. Nephew had 3. His extractor on his 30-06 broke on the first range session. His 7mm-08 had THREE stripped mounting holes out of four for the rear mount. I had one stripped hole in my .300 WM which also would not eject properly. Those rifles, while accurate are not dependable. I now shoot Weatherby Vanguards and have never had an issue.

  13. try shooting it and it will eject properly

  14. It's a bear gun , made to insure the survival of the species , although not your species
Bolts are supposed to be the most dependable , but not this one obviously
I thank you for your vids
I will no longer buy the brownikng
Is your ruger just as accurate ?
I was really after the accuracy of the browning
but thoroughly hate a malfuntioning gun
